Five New Fantasy Books to Read This Summer

For many summer is a time to both rest and play, to take a break from the mundane and delve into the dreams we’ve pushed aside for another time. While you were busy during the other seasons, authors were working behind the scenes to bring your next adventure to life. Below you will find five fantastical book recommendations new to the market as of this summer.

Witch King by Martha Wells – May 30, 2023

Dark Water Daughter by H.M. Long – July 11, 2023

Psyche and Eros by Luna McNamara – May 25, 2023

In this reimagining of Greek mythology the god of desire is cursed with love for a mortal woman, and if she lays eyes upon him, they will be separated forever. Psyche is princess of Mycenae and prophesized to defeat an infamous monster who frightens the gods. She raises herself as a rebel against the expectations of femininity, learning blade and bow to rise to this foreseen challenge.

Psyche finds herself in trouble with Aphrodite and she needs Eros to send a curse but by some mistake he ends up cursing himself, and falling for Psyche. Forbidden love between god and mortal brews as the Trojan War spurs on, forcing the two to face conflicts they never could have imagined.
